The Open Process Lab serves as the interface between the realms of design theory and the practice of designing. Its foundation lies in reflecting on the possibilities and potentials of prototyping methods and other open development processes for the design profession, thus impacting design education as well. Prototyping experiments conducted within design projects link questions from overarching theoretical discourses with design tasks. As a result, insights are generated alongside designs, which are then translated into theoretical frameworks. Following a discursive approach, both designs and research questions are integrated into subsequent projects. Equipped with dedicated CAD workstations, open-source 3D printers, and a digital prototyping soldering station, it is linked with the capacities of the university workshops.
