Project description

Food is interconnected deeply to our body – our senses. As it started to be purpose oriented to survive, it evolved to be an experience. Nowadays in the fast-paced routine, we forget to take a breath and savour it. The work should stress the sensory, maybe even sensual experience we have the moment we smell it, the second the food touches our tongue and the texture mixing together.

 

Eating is also a community activity. It is related to global culture; the rituals are diverse, but under it lies a universal language. Within eating there might be a possibility for another form of communication. By sitting at the same table and sharing the experience, people feeling lonely in this overwhelming time might just forget that feeling for a while.

 

The dining experience should take place once on a day during the three-days exhibition. Open call for the registration with food preference (allergies, vegan/vegetarian/meat) and consent to be recorder audio visually will be advertised two weeks before (21/01). The precise location of the experience and exhibition will be updated.

 

A team of helpers are also needed. We are glad for any help in technical and reception matters.

Performative Dinner: Table Company (Registration necessary!) Breaking the frame, expanding cinema | Tischgesellschaft

The dining experience will focus on the senses and interaction between the participants. A maximum of 10 people will sit around the table upon arrival. The participants both act as the audience and the performers. Two set-ups of cameras will be done: one for each person on the table and one over the table from the ceiling. The microphones are attached to the cutleries for each person. The collective sounds of eating and table talks will be played through the speaker.
