Project description
PROJECT 1: QUILTING
The first lockdown in France was quite strict. I only went out a few hours a week and had no one around me. My small apartment became my refuge, where I felt comfortable. It was important for me to come to Weimar for Erasmus, to live in an environment that would make me feel at home and to be surrounded by flatmates this time.
Weimar, November 2, 2021. 2 months to the day that I live in Weimar. In my suitcases, these fabrics that make me feel at home. This curtain, with flowers. This bed set, with flowers. These scarves, with flowers, used sometimes as turbans and sometimes as hangings. And this carpet, with flowers. Comforting obsession. Patterns, textures, colors, lights and shadows, the diffusion of lavender scent, dress my new room, my new ephemeral home.(..)
PROJECT 2: MENDING
With my grandmother seamstress, with my father, or by myself I have already made mending. The main objective was to make these mending as invisible as possible, not to change the vision, the nature of the item.
But today the objective is to play with this mending, that it brings a singularity to the piece that I chose.
A tube skirt, long, elastic, with flowers (again). Summer or winter, I wore it a lot last year because it is comfortable like a second skin. It's from second hand, not vintage, not of a very good quality but I still have affection for it.
