PORT: Call for Entries

We are excited to invite you to contribute to the upcoming issue of port magazine 2024, »Clone Issue«.

»Clone« is a double, a copy, an imitation of reality. She's the upgraded version, the Abbild of an original that in itself is deeply entangled with her. She’s the untouchable, a whole new entity that replicates what we yearn for – the past and the future. Dissociated from the  creator, the author, she arises from the nothingness that is everything that’s ever existed and is more that we can imagine. »Cloner« is you. You see and collect. You create and reflect. You imitate, you steal from a universe of references. You are in pain to create something new. Everything has existed before.

In this issue of port magazine we admit to being inspired. We confess our influences, we disclose our sources. Being in an urge to invent something new, we want to acknowledge our clone and its genetic roots. We are looking for projects who are questioning »the natural« and »the artificial« / »the original« and »the copy«. Projects, who cannot decide whether they are real or virtual or virtually real. In cyberspace reality can be multiplied endlessly, a nearly perfect illusion of spatial depth and processes. What determines your clone-space-design? What is authentic and when is imitation artistic? Where do your visions come from and who gets to define what is a fake?

Works can be submitted via the form below up to and including Sunday, 21 April 2024. We are open to receive contributions (whatever image, text, model, code…)  from all study programs of Bauhaus Universität Weimar. We would also ask you to submit your inspiration board / sources that guided the design of your project.

PORT magazine is the inter-faculty magazine of the students of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Every year at the »summaery«, selected works and their development process are published.

The editorial work and design of the magazine, which is published annually, are entirely in the hands of students. In the summer semester of 2024, the PORT magazine will be developed by Lisa Schulz-Coppi, Leonard Behre, Fenja Graf and Annika Knapp.
