From 5 to 7 July 2023, experts from the fields of computer science, media practice and theory as well as artists will come together in Weimar to exchange ideas at the intersections of digital art and culture and to search for interdisciplinary synergies. The »Interface Design« department of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar supports the international conference in terms of organisation and content.
The international conference »xCoAx« is already taking place for the 11th time. After venues all over the world, the format is now making its guest appearance in Weimar for the first time. The focus of xCoAx is on the unpredictable overlaps between creative freedom and algorithmic rules, between human nature and machine technology, aimed towards new directions in aesthetics.
Three days of symposia and keynotes (mon ami) are interwoven with a performance programme (Nivre Studio) and an exhibition (Galerie EIGENHEIM Weimar), making the conference a unique occasion for international audiences to exchange ideas in search for interdisciplinary synergies in the fields between computer science, the arts, media practice and theory at the thresholds between digital art and culture.
Since its launch in Bergamo in 2013, xCoAx has taken place in Porto, Glasgow, again in Bergamo, Lisbon, Madrid, Milan, Graz, online and Coimbra.
A cooperation of the University of Porto, the University of Lisbon, the Università degli Studi di Bergamo, the University of Konstanz and the Professorship "Interface Design" of the Faculty of Art and Design at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
