Bauhaus students Esther Betz, Elisa Bessega and Sylvia Chen have been honoured for their »Mantis« cargo scooter in the »one&twenty« design competition. With this international competition, the German Design Council annually honours outstanding design students and graduates in the fields of product design and lifestyle.

Visual Communication students Johanna Mehner and Ossian Osborne won one of the prestigious awards in the renowned competition for the 100 best posters from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. A total of 2,333 posters from 667 entrants competed for one of the coveted places.

Vom 21. bis 24. März 2024 präsentiert sich die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar unter dem Motto »Even more reading. Even more writing« auf der Leipziger Buchmesse. Mit dabei ist das Projekt »Interactive Cubes«, eine mediale Plattform für interaktive Videospiel- und Lernanwendungen. Im Zentrum stehen mehrere Würfel, die von den Messegästen selbst getestet werden können und welche spielerisch digitale und analoge Buchstabenwelten verbinden.

After two successful workshops in Montevideo (Uruguay) and Sagada (Philippines), the third Bauhaus.Listening.Workshop will now take place in Johannesburg from 17 to 22 March 2024. It will bring together sound practitioners and theorists from Southern Africa to exchange ideas about listening cultures and radio history in the region.

Vier Künstlerische Mitarbeiter*innen der Visuellen Kommunikation sind vom 16. bis 23. Februar 2024 für eine Workshop-Woche an der Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art, auch genannt »Sutnarka« oder »Sutnar Faculty«, im tschechischen Pilsen an der University of West Bohemia zu Gast. Der Besuch dient der Anbahnung einer zukünftigen Partnerschaft der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar mit der Fakultät in Pilsen.

2024 is a super election year in Thuringia, Brandenburg and Saxony with local (from 26 May), European (6 – 9 June) and state (1 September in Thuringia) elections all scheduled to take place. The »92 Tage« (92 days) campaign is the brainchild of instructors and alumni from the Faculty of Art and Design and calls on students from all Thuringian universities to register their residence in Thuringia so that they can vote in the upcoming elections and support democracy in the Free State.

Isaac Chong Wai, graduate of the international master‘s degree programme »Public Art and New Artistic Strategies«, is invited as participating artist for the 60th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, Foreigners Everywhere, curated by Adriano Pedrosa. The Biennale Arte 2024 will be held at the Arsenale and Giardini from 20 April to 24 November 2024.
