Nathalie Singer, professor of Experimental Radio at the Faculty of Art and Design, will speak at taz Talk on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 7 p.m. on »Community Radio as Participatory Media.« The event will take place at the taz Kantine in Berlin and will be broadcast live on YouTube.

Oscar nomination for alumnus of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar

Guido Wolter, visual effects supervisor, has been nominated for an Oscar for his work on the Hollywood film »Sinners«. Wolter studied Media Design at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar from 2000 to 2006. The award ceremony will take place on Saturday, 15 March 2026, in Los Angeles. We're keeping our fingers crossed!

Insights into studies: Winterwerkschau shows projects and experiments by art and design students

Once a year, the student council of the Faculty of Art and Design invites all students to present their current work in an exhibition. Over 50 projects and courses have registered and can be visited and explored from Friday, 6 February to Sunday, 8 February 2026.

Poster titled “Round Tables – Performative Attunement / Design.” It announces a two-day event on 16 and 17 February 2026 with contributions from several international speakers. The venue is the Oberlichtsaal at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Geschwister-Scholl-Straße 8. The event is hybrid; a QR code and link for online participation are included. Round Tables on Performative Design Processes in the Research Project »IN TUNE«

As part of the research project IN TUNE: Performing Material Attunement for Post-Authorial (Architectural) Design Practices, two public round tables will take place on Monday, February 16, and Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 6.30 – 8 p.m. each evening. International designers and architects will discuss performative and material-based approaches in architecture and design, both on site and online.

On the occasion of the upcoming publication of the comprehensive volume »BOOM! 7 Years of nova space«, the University Gallery of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is hosting a screening evening on Monday, February 2, 2026, under the title »BOOM! Shifts, upheaval and new beginnings in art«. The screening is open to all members of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

Vom Freitag, 27. bis Sonntag, 29. März 2026 findet das 8. Internationale Symposium zur Baukulturellen Bildung im Eiermannbau in Apolda statt. Das bundesweite Forum bietet unter dem Motto »Textil vermittelt« Raum für Austausch und Diskussion über die Bedeutung der baukulturellen Bildung.

Animated film by Master’s student in the Max Ophuels Film Festival Competition

Anya Ryzhkova, Master's student in Media Art and Design, will be celebrating the première of her graduation film project, »vremya fewral’ / STILL FEBRUARY«, on Wednesday 21 January 2026 in the short film competition of the Max Ophuels Film Festival. For the first time, animated films are officially eligible to compete in the Film Festival.
