Deborah Kelly, Sydney (AU)

Sydney-based artist Deborah Kelly works in the field of media and paper collage. Concerned with lineages of representation, politics and history in public exchange, her work has been shown worldwide, e.g. at the Singapore, Sydney and Venice Bienniales. As a founding member of the boat-people artist collective, she most recently exhibited in the 2014 TarraWarra Biennial. 2005, her MC A-commissioned Beware of the God included videos in train stations, 40,000 distributed sticker-postcards and projections onto clouds. Devised for the 20th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square protests, Tank Man Tango was performed in 20+ cities around the world on 4 June 2009. Her work is currently included in the MOMA PS1 exhibition Zero Tolerance, on view there until 8 March 2015. Kelly co-curated TERRA NULLIUS at ACC (2009), an exhibition dealing with the contradictions in contemporary Australia’s representation as harmonious, welcoming society with rich cultural diversity. In Zusammenarbeit mit dem MFA-Programm der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Fakultät Gestaltung, Prof. Danica Daki´c.
