How Discoverers Discover

Gerhard Lang, Berlin und London

My work is poeticised science, with which I investigate cultural processes, e.g. that of perception. How we explain our existence and the world is subjected here to a close examination that is both earnest and playful. In this context, I am interested in the question of how landscape and man are related. My strategy of analysis employs a wide variety of acoustic and pictorial processes that I incorporate into my work in a performative and playful manner. I will show how this is expressed in my work on Dec. 6 in Weimar. In an abbreviated way I will deal with the question of whether landscape indicates something that is external? An old phantom-image photo-fit picture machine of the “Bundeskriminalamt” (Federal Office of Criminal Investigation, BKA) will play a role, as will the color and walking into clouds. Gerhard Lang studied at the University of the Arts in Kassel and at the Slade School of Fine Art in London (M.A.). Eine Zusammenarbeit des Programms Master of Fine Arts der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar mit dem ACC.
