From a 'divided' to a 'shared' city: healing the trauma in Nicosia, Cyprus

Zinovia Foka

Nicosia, divided capital of Cyprus, is the main case study for the research “From Berlin to Nicosia: Healing the Trauma”. The city is studied in the larger context of cities divided by war or conflict, in order to understand how the urban fabric is shaped by the conflict and vice versa. The research deals with the exploration of relations between urban space and reunification as well as the possibilities of dead zone rehabilitation.
