In this research collaboration with Deutsche Bahn Station & Service we are developing methods for anticipating the user perspective in the early planning phases of a train station. By integrating Virtual Reality based User Studies and Simulation Methods into Building Information Modeling we aim at improving current planning processes.
The main objective of this interdisciplinary international research project at the Bauhaus- Universität Weimar (BUW) and the Ethiopia Institute for Architecture, Building Construction and City Development (EiABC) is to create knowledge, tools, and networks for establishing high-quality, interdisciplinary, cross-continental research and education on the planning of resilient cities.
Forschungsprojekt zur Entwicklung von Methoden zur systematischen Variantenexpoloration in frühen Phasen der Planung unter Berücksichtigung von Lebenszyklusaspekten.
In this project we investigated the relationships between energy performance aspects of urban structures and the perception of a city by its inhabitants. The methods developed in this project help to more systematically anticipate the social and energy performance implications of planning decisions, and to develop compromises for both dimensions.
