Welcome to Weimar, Welcome to Bauhaus Universität Weimar

Welcome to Weimar, Welcome to Bauhaus Universität

A collaboration between the International Office and eLab, this project aims to propose an effective design strategy to deliver complex information to a multicultural audience. In this case, all the requirements and procedures that international students need to follow when they arrive in Germany. The project intends to understand  to recognise how the principles of interface design and multimedia for learning could be applied in cross-cultural communication.

To carry out this project, it was developed an e-learning course aimed at international students of the Bauhaus Universität Weimar.

E-learning was an ideal tool to perform an interface analysis, due to trough variables as learning effectiveness is possible to assess efficacy in communication, giving a chance to evaluate an interface design under specific parameters.

The proposed design and didactical strategy explored the interactions between interface design heuristics, learning principles and cultural factors analysing a group of 349 international students from five different nationalities registered at the Bauhaus University of Weimar (Winter Semester 2015/16).

This e-learning tool is used by the International Office since the Summer Semester 2017.
