Projektbeschreibung
The fluid sloshing is generally considered a severe mechanical problem in liquid storage tanks and other structures because the sloshing motion due to external source excitation can generate extra forces on the roof and wall of the tank to buckle. Therefore, research has been emphasized to know more about the sloshing phenomenon, which can be used in beneficial ways, such as dissipating energy. It is associated with related parameters, i.e., geometry and input amplitude and frequency, which helps predict the hydrodynamic forces acting on a tank. By careful tuning the frequency of a sloshing liquid inside a tank with the frequency of the structure, the dynamic effects can be controlled. Later, the research which started to mitigate the sloshing problem turned out to be added solution as Tuned Liquid Sloshing Dampers.
Present research work on Tuned Liquid Sloshing Dampers is carried out as a two-step process.
Step 1: Comparison of experiment and numerical data to understand the reliability of the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tool, i.e., OpenFOAM.
Step 2: The research work is further extended through numerical coupling interaction between dynamic structural analysis and fluid forces components.
