Projektbeschreibung
In human interaction, phrases like “I can feel you” or “I understand how you feel” often surface. They suggest an empathetic connection, a shared understanding of emotions. Yet, do these words genuinely encapsulate the extent of our emotional connections, or are they mere linguistic bridges to shared experiences?
This thesis, titled ‘Heart-to-Heart’, delves into the question: What if we could physically feel another person through our senses? What if our heartbeat, that unceasing rhythm within us all, could serve as the medium for forming these profound connections? How would we feel or react when these connections become tangible? This project introduces an installation that seeks to blur the boundaries between individuals, inviting participants to engage in a sensory experience where the participant’s heartbeat becomes a gateway to self-discovery and shared connections.
This project aims at exploring a visual and haptic approach to representing the imperceptible links between people by means of interacting with each other ́s heartbeats. The heartbeat was chosen as the vehicle to create a sincere connection between participants, for a heartbeat is considered to be an authentic and true measure of trustworthiness.
