Coming back to the safest place, the soft bed in the corner of the room, putting a blanket all over my body like I can really hide from everything, exploring random thoughts and reconnecting to the random parts of mine that I love and hate. After a long period of feeling so blank and being so self-destructive, maybe now it’s time to give myself a big, tight hug and stay under this blanket for as long as I need.
The feelings and message are conveyed through an interactive blanket installation that allows visitors to sit in the middle and experience a hug from the blanket. When you are not at your strongest spot, being passive is not a sign of weakness but instead, a sign of acceptance. Let’s allow ourselves to be an object for a bit, and let an object like a blanket perform its strength and play an active role by giving us a big warm hug.
________ (the blank) is a piece of skin-like material large enough to enfold most of one's feelings, embrace the fragility, and thick enough to keep the heart warm by trapping kindness, compassion, and self-forgiveness that otherwise would be lost through the winter of life.
