Art & Architecture: Blurred frontiers?

Edgar Guzmanruiz, Kolumbien

Several questions arise when considering works of contemporary artists and architects: Are boundaries between art and architecture? Why has this discussion intensified over the last fifty years? Can we project future directions with this controversial relationship? Edgar Guzmanruiz will present ideas on how to ap-proach these questions by providing examples from: artists of the 60’s and 70’s that create, cover, invade, cross and break the architectural space; artists that use the language of architecture or construct; archi-tects that use the language of art in their designs; and instances of collaboration. Edgar Guzmanruiz received his Masters in Art and Architecture at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, mentored by Prof. Megert and Prof. Merz and has had numerous solo and group exhibitions in Colombia, Egypt, France, Japan, Germany and the USA. Guzmanruiz was most recently working as an Associate professor at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia.
