Prof. Dr. Carsten Könke

Carsten Könke is a full professor (W3) for for Structural Statics and Component Strength at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and Scientific Director of Material Research and Testing Laboratory at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

Professional background: Civil Engineering Studies at the Technical University Munich (TUM) (1983 - 1988). Research assistant at the Institute for Theory of Structures and Simulation Methods, Prof. Dr. G. Schmid, Ph.D., Ruhr-University Bochum. In 1993, he received his Dr.-Ing. at Ruhr-University Bochum with a thesis on »Coupling of a micromechanical void-growth model with a macrocrack model to simulate damage in ductile materials«. After five years as senior research assistant (C2) at the Institute for Statics and Dynamics in Bochum, in 1999, he habilitates for »statics and dynamics of structures« on »damage and crack simulation methods for life-cycle prediction of structures«.  From 1998 to 2000 Könke is senior research assistant at the Institute for Theory of Structures and Dynamics, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. K. Meskouris, at RWTH Aachen. In January 2001 he becomes full professor (C4) for Structural Mechanics at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
