Lukáš Veltruský

Teaching Assistant (2013 - 2016)

Lukáš is a German- and Swiss-educated architect, urban planner, exhibition designer and programmer. He has worked for leading architecture offices such as Foster+Partners, Werner Sobek, ludloff+ludloff, HG Merz and Diébédo Francis Kéré. As a project leader and design director, he accounts among others for the conversion of the Oxford-Barracks in Münster as well as for the conception of the award-winning SOS Education and Meeting Centre and Breitscheidplatz Memorial in Berlin. He most notably redesigned the auditorium of the State Opera Unter den Linden and programmed its awarded Reverberation Gallery, the world's first computationally generated and robotically fabricated heritage protected monument.

He is a passionate advocate of engineering shape-giving dialogues. He recently founded his own undisciplinary studio and unfolded an approach combining classical architectural knowhow, innovative research methodologies, cutting-edge algorithm-based protocols and art production processes to let a plurality of players and layers interact in the constructive process. This responsive modus operandi enables him to engage with complex architectural and cultural situations, and elaborate proficient answers that are altogether considerate of heritage, conscious of present challenges, and concerned with the future.

Lukáš researched and taught at Bauhaus University Weimar, lectured at Addis Ababa University and teamed-up with Florian Geddert for a Guest Professorship at the Münster School of Architecture and is currently teaching computational landscaping at the TU Berlin.
