The AEC Global Teamwork is a unique learning experience that focuses on cross-disciplinary, globally distributed, project-based teamwork. It brings together students, faculty, and industry practitioners from five disciplines – architecture, structural engineering, MEP building systems engineering, construction management (CM), and life cycle financial management (LCFM). This year 32 students coming from Stanford and 12 partner universities worldwide representing 18 nationalities participated. The students were distributed in 5 global project teams that were composed of team members representing the different disciplines. They remotely designed university buildings addressing local site challenges such as earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, extreme weather, tight construction site locations, and local regulations and labor conditions, while trying news ways of virtual construction and collaboration.
