Center for Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering

The Center for Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering was established at the Faculty of Civil Engineering in 2009 in order to pool the research expertise of the Earthquake Damage Analysis Center (EDAC) with that of the chairs of Structural Dynamics and Soil Dynamics. These three research areas are situated at the Institute of Constructive Civil Engineering (IKI), the Institute of Structural Mechanics (ISM) and the Chair of Soil Mechanics.

This combination has formed a scientific concentration, upon which the existing synergies in research and instruction in the fields of structural dynamics and earthquake engineering can be further expanded. The cooperative venture has resulted in greater possibilities for developing new projects. While the three research groups continue their long-term research projects, they are also developing joint research endeavours which take advantage of their combined areas of competence.
