Exhibition »From the lab to the studio«

The gallery EIGENHEIM Weimar/Berlin is the official showcase of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar for the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus in 2019. The exhibition »From the lab to the studio - New Technologies and Materials in Art« deals with social changes and hopes associated with the new materials and technologies to find solutions for the challenges of the future.

In recent decades, extensive technological leaps have been made, be it in information technology, material science or medicine. Taking place exponentially, such developments bring about profound social changes. These societal leaps in development also offer unprecedented possibilities for new developments in art. A creative, playful approach, as it is the basis of art, broadens the view on the innovations of our time and can thus help to develop new approaches. Virtual realities, 3D prints, robotics, mobile computing, image recognition software or telephone applications have been new fields of activity in art for many years.

The goal of depicting the various faculties of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will be deepened in the form of exhibition architecture. Experimental set-ups and experiments merge into a laboratory and thinking space, combining craftsmanship, technology and new materials into a single unit.
