20 students from 4 different degree programmes present their artistic semester work on the theme of “hyper objects” – phenomena that seem extremely colossal and powerful in space and time. They exist in the here and now, beyond us, around us, and within us. Because our spatial, visual, and tactile perceptions convey only a limited reality, the actual size of hyper objects is beyond human imagination.

For the exhibition, we built an 8-ton pavilion in front of the main building of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, out of which 20 individual modules were created for the student works. The exhibition modules were constructed from scaffolding that gave the impression of a labyrinth. Each module was covered with a biodegradable film, giving the pavilion a futuristic look.

The aim of this project was to explore and test new creative and artistic means, approaches, concepts, resources and strategies for the promotion and support creative thinking and acting, confronting and critiquing the current complex hyper-challenges of modern man.
