Type: Exam Project Degree Programme: Fine Art Education Professorship: Teaching Art Education Supervision: Stef Heidhues, Elisa Rufenach-Ruthenberg

Lithophilia, the human love of stone, was the starting point for the performative lecture for stones. 200 listening stones spread across the tables of the lecture theatre.

Questions about the extent to which the material stone can become an equally important actor within social action and scientific discourse were posed and compared with the theory of underpinned by the theory of New Materialism. This approach to thinking the world world leads to the dissolution of the separation of culture and nature, to overcome dualism, so that things, objects and subjects are not viewed in isolation but in their in their contexts, networks and relational relationships.

The lecture for stones outlines and examines how the lecture theatre, the body of the performer's body, the performative actions and the stones themselves contribute to the the established format of an academic lecture. In the process, the institutional structures of the university are called into question and reflects on who imparts knowledge - and how.
