AEC Global Teamwork - bridging the triple gap

Fakultät: Bauingenieurwesen, Studiengang: Bauingenieurwesen (M.Sc.)

AEC Global Teamwork is a unique learning experience based at Stanford University that focuses on cross-disciplinary, geographically distributed, project-based teamwork bringing together students, faculty, and industry practitioners from Europe, Asia, and the US.
Since 19 generations, architecture, engineering and construction management students have worked in international teams on construction projects, including the architectural design, engineering structures, MEP equipment, cost calculation and financing and sustainable, lifecycle aspects. It is the goal to prepare students for being world leaders in global teamwork learning and for working in processes that focus on problem based, project centered activities that end up in a product for a client. While doing so, new and innovative learning and collaboration technologies, as well as knowledge sharing technologies and virtual workspaces are discovered, implemented and tested.
This year’s students from Weimar, two structural engineers and three life cycle financial managers, present their work and results of the project running from January till May and explain their “bridging the triple gap” in terms of internationality, interdisciplinarity and the multi-fold use of IT tools for communication, coordination and collaboration.
