Kukaye Moto www.kukayemoto.deKukaye Moto ist eine Live Band, die 2004 von Arba Manillah gegründet wurde. Ursprünglich kommt er aus Iringa, einem Ort in Tansania, Ostafrika. Das Wort „Kukaye“ stammt aus der tansanischen Stammessprache Kihehe und bedeutet „Gemeinschaft“ oder „Zuhause“. „Moto“ ist ein Suaheli- Wort und bedeutet „Feuer“ oder auch „Party“. Zurzeit setzt sich Kukaye Moto aus Musikern zusammen, die auf drei verschiedenen Kontinenten aufgewachsen sind. Diese interkulturelle Spannung zeigt sich auf der Bühne und setzt sich in einem drückenden Puls frei. Eine Kombination aus einer Vielfalt von multikultureller Energie. „Washa moto ndani ya nyumba!“ (Entzündet das Feuer auf der Bühne!“) Arba Manillah kam 2003 nach Leipzig und 2004 begann er wieder Musik zu machen, nachdem er Musiker von anderen Kontinenten getroffen hatte. Das war der Beginn von Kukaye Moto. „Wir nahmen unser erstes Album auf, „Jua lile“, und kurz danach wurde das zweite Album veröffentlicht: „Wao Wao“. Wir schaffen eine Mischung aus Afrobeats, Livangala und spielen eine Vielzahl von Instrumenten, wie zum Beispiel Kora, Gitarre, Cajon, Taman, usw. Wir wollen Musik machen, die die Tradition mit einem modernen Stil verknüpft.“

Auch das kommende Sommersemester beginnen wir wieder mit einem Osterspaziergang. Deshalb treffen wir uns am Samstag, den 14.04.2012, um 14 Uhr am Liszt-Haus (neben der Mensa) um dann gemeinsam durch den Ilmpark zum Haus am Horn zu schlendern.

Dort haben wir die Möglichkeit kostenfrei das Haus am Horn und die dortige Ausstellung mit Fotografien und Objekten von Claus Bach zu besichtigen. Dies wird uns freundlicherweise durch den Freundeskreis der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar e.V. ermöglicht.

Anschließend erwarten uns bunte Ostereier, Schoko-Osterhasen und ein gemütliches Picknick im Garten des Haus am Horn.

Improv! Weimar Winter Edition 2012

Originally a spin-off from Yiddish Summer Weimar, Winter Edition has taken on its own life and identity as a festival/institute for music improvisation, the voice, the body and awareness. Under the direction of Dr. Alan Bern and with an outstanding international faculty, the atmosphere of Winter Edition is at the same time interdisciplinary, holistic, intensive, inspiring and rigorous.

Ursprünglich eine Weiterentwicklung von Yiddish Summer Weimar, hat die Winter Edition inzwischen ein eigenes Leben und eine eigene Identität als ein Festival/Institut für improvisierte Musik, die Stimme, den Körper und das Bewusstsein. Unter der Leitung von Alan Bern, zusammen mit international renommierten Dozenten, ist die Winter Edition gleichzeitig interdisziplinär, ganzheitlich, intensiv, inspirierend und rigoros.

Fundamentals WorkshopLed by Cesar Lerner (Buenos Aires) with Alan Bern (Berlin) and Michael Schründer (Berlin)

For beginning through intermediate improvisers, this workshop develops the fundamental relationship between rhythm and improvisation. Through drum circles, hands-on group classes, Feldenkrais, and more, you will gain rhythmic, melodic and harmonic tools and use them to express your own musical impulses and to communicate musically with others through improvisation.

Für Anfänger und Musiker mit etwas Erfahrung im Improvisieren entwickelt dieser Workshop die grundlegende Beziehung zwischen Rhythmus und Improvisation. Durch Drum Circles, praktischen Gruppenunterricht, Feldenkrais und mehr erarbeiten sich die Teilnehmer rhythmische, melodische und harmonische Werkzeuge, die sie dann benutzen, um ihre eigenen musikalischen Impulse auszudrücken und mit anderen durch Improvisation musikalisch zu kommunizieren.

For past participants in Winter Edition advanced workshops and advanced improvisers in any style (jazz, blues, rock, baroque) who are ready to challenge old habits and patterns and connect with deeper levels of musical creativity, expression and communication. Includes classes in conducted improvisation with the opportunity to be both player and conductor, intensive work on musical impulse and communication in small ensembles, and work on awareness and rhythm based on Feldenkrais and TaKeTiNa.

Für Teilnehmer vergangener Winter Edition Advanced Workshops und fortgeschrittene Improvisatoren egal welcher Musikrichtung (Jazz, Blues, Rock, Barock) die bereit sind, alte Gewohnheiten und Muster infrage zu stellen und tiefere Ebenen der musikalischen Kreativität, des Ausdrucks und der Kommunikation zu ergründen. Der Workshop umfasst Unterricht in dirigierter Improvisation mit der Möglichkeit sowohl Mitspieler als auch Dirigent zu sein, intensive Arbeit mit musikalischen Impulsen und Kommunikation in kleinen Ensembles, sowie Arbeit mit Bewusstheit und Rhythmus basierend auf Feldenkrais und Taketina.
