was built
in 1923 as a trial house for the great Bauhaus exhibition. The design
was conceived by Georg Muche, the Bauhauss youngest teacher; the
construction was carried out by Gropiuss construction office under
the directorship of Adolf Meyer.
The house
is the very first realized example of Bauhaus architecture (and unfortunately
the only one in Weimar)and belongs to the UNESCO
World Cultural Heritage.
On the occasion
of the Bauhauss 80th anniversary, the house was comprehensively
renovated by the Bauhaus University Circle of Friends with support from
public donors and the »Sparkasse« Finance Group.
Today it
is used by the Circle of Friends for exhibitions and events.
