Immediately
south of the city center (more exactly, of the Frauenplan) can
be found the square named after the famous writer and educator
of princes, Wieland.
From here, one can either walk to the city center via Schützengasse
or Frauenplan, or one can continue in the other direction via
Marienstraße and Amalienstraße to the university
buildings located in the southern part of the city.
Since
1999, important divisions of the Faculty
of Design have been housed in Marienstraße 1. Shortly
after 1900, the studio of court photographer Louis Held, as
well as Weimars first movie theater, were located here.
