The
Theater Square with the National Theater, Goethe-Schiller Monument,
Bauhaus Museum, and Wittum Palace is the cultural heart of the
city.
The
neo-classical facade of the German
National Theater, built shortly after 1900 as court theater,
lends the Square
its character, along with the famous Goethe-Schiller monument.
The
Bauhaus
Museum located opposite the theater displays works of the
Bauhaus, its predecessors and successors, as well as works of
artists and designers active at the Bauhaus.
