Goethe Square and Kasseturm

Although all of Weimar‘s transportation routes pass through it, the Goethe Square is quieter today than it was before its renovation in 1999. In front of the post office extends a large area up until the city wall. Thanks to the skilled use of cobblestones, the adjacent street is hardly noticeable.

The »Kasseturm« is without a doubt one of the oldest buildings forming an essential part of Weimar‘s townscape. Once a component of the city wall, which extends along this area, the Kasseturm serves today as a student club. The adjacent Mon Ami building is a cultural center housing the community movie theater.
