The Professorship of »Interface Design« deals not only with the
design of surface-oriented user interfaces, but understands the term “interface”
in a deeper sense as an intersection between complex, networked systems and
human beings. These systems represent themselves not only by their technical
characteristics, but also their content and cultural qualities, as well as their
medial manifestations. This is especially true of multimedia, time-dependant
media and the connection between dramaturgical forms and navigational techniques.
The search for innovative forms of interaction at the interface between real
and medial space places human perception in the centre. Focuses of the work
are multimedia content and interaction forms in an intelligent environment.
