Alain Berthoz is currently a Professor at the College de France, member of the French Academy of sciences, the Academia Europae, American Academy of Arts and Sciences and other Academies (Belgium, Bulgaria). He is the Director of the Laboratory of Physiologie de la Perception et de l'Action of CNRS (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique). He is an engineer, psychologist and neurophysiologist and has worked during his scientific carreer at CNRS in the field of cognitive neuroscience. He received the Dow Award of the Portland Neuroscience Institute, the F. Rossi Award from University of Pavia, and prizes from the French Academy of Sciences and the French Academy of Medicine. He is the author of more than 250 publications in international journals and the author of several books among which are The Brain’s Sense of Movement ( Harvard University Press 2000) and Emotion and Reason: The Cognitive Neuroscience of Decision Making (Oxford University Press 2006).
