On 22.06.2026, the Presidential Board agreed to temporarily appoint Prof. Guido Morgenthal as Chancellor of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, effective 23.06.2026. He will be designated as Chancellor (interim).
Following his appointment, a Chancellor Team was, consisting of five members, was established. This Team includes:

Beate Haltmeyer-Forstner, Director of the Personnel Department
Hagen Hausbrandt, Director of the Finance Department
Dr. Steffi Heine, Director of Legal Affairs
Susanne Rößler, Managing Director of the Faculty of Media
The Chancellor Team is responsible for advising the Chancellor (interim) by contributing their respective expertise and experience. The aim is to incorporate diverse perspectives into decision-making processes early on and to collaborate on developing viable solutions for the future development of the University. The responsibilities and decision-making authority of the Chancellor (interim) remain unaffected by this.
Given the University’s current financial circumstances, the tasks ahead will be challenging. The Chancellor (interim) and the Chancellor Team will approach these challenges with the utmost dedication and, together with the members of the University, develop sustainable solutions to ensure the long-term future of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
