Weimarhalle
The new Weimarhalle is located in the former garden of the Bertuch House, directly behind the City Museum. The sturdy new building was designed by the architects Gerkan, Marg & Partner. The grey travertine and wooden lamella facade and its series of high, narrow windows preserve the dimensions of the 1920s-vintage building that was located there until its demolition in 1997.
Movable wooden partitions inside can be used to create a large, closed auditorium with superb acoustics and seating for 1,200 people, or pushed aside to open up a view to the park.
