Limona – branch library for Art and Design, Architecture

This impressive brick building was built at the turn of the 20th century as part of the brewery complex. Its present name refers to its prior use as the headquarters for the beverage collective combine “Limona” in the GDR. Since falling into the hands of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, it has been completely renovated and fitted with a glass roof pavilion, which is visible from far away and provides those inside with a fantastic view of downtown Weimar.

The Limona Building is now used as a branch library for Art/Design and Architecture. The upper floors contain a photography workshop used by the Faculty of Art and Design, offices and the university’s slide library.

The new media centre and the main university library are located in close proximity.
