Haus am Horn

The “Haus am Horn” was built as a model house for the large Bauhaus Exhibition of 1923. Designed by Georg Muche – the youngest master of the Bauhaus at the time – the house was constructed by Gropius’ building office under the supervision of Adolf Meyer.

This house is the very first Bauhaus building ever constructed (and unfortunately, the only one in Weimar). It is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Bauhaus, the Friends of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Association had the building completely restored with additional financing from public sponsors and the Hessian-Thuringian Savings Bank Finance Group.

The association uses the Haus am Horn today as an exhibition and event venue.
