Institute for European Urban Studies

Situated in a chestnut grove, this former officers’ mess hall was built in 1896. This unpretentious, two-storey, Italian style villa was completely renovated by the Thuringian State Development Association in 1999 and since then, has been used as an information and event centre for the construction project “neues Bauen am Horn”. The European Urban Studies department has also been situated here since 1999.
