Welcome to the University Press

The University Press at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar began production in 1954, making it the oldest, continuously operating university publisher in Germany. Its very first publication was a scientific journal which was then followed by a number of dissertations. The spectrum of new releases continued expanding over the years and now includes a wide range of artistic and scientific publications from all four faculties at the university. The University Press places special emphasis on literature about the Bauhaus which was founded in Weimar in 1919. There are also several long-running series produced by the university institutes and chairs, for example, VERSO on international architectural theory, the yearbooks for the Faculty of Architecture and the Faculty of Art and Design, the yearbooks for the European Urban Studies model projects, the archive for Media History and a series of papers by the Chairs of Geotechnology and the Institute for Constructive Civil Engineering. The University Press is division of the University Library and is responsible for publishing print media. Online publications are released by the University Library.
