If you want to apply for using the library, you have to come to the circulation desk (library building, Steubenstr. 6). The next working day, you will recieve your Thoska and the password for your library account, which consists of the first three letters of your family name (e.g. Meyer = mey). Please change it in your account.

If you are a registered library user, you can order the loanable stocks of the university library via the library catalogue (OPAC). Delivery times are Monday to Friday at  9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The ordered literature is available to you approximately 10 days at the circulation desk in the library building. Please note: media from the reference stocks cannot be ordered online.

If you need a book for a longer period, please extend it in time. By doing so, you can avoid costs. An extension of the loan period for media, which are not reserved by other library users, is possible up to six times. The extension can be carried out by yourself via the Internet or by contacting the library staff. If possible, please carry out the extension in your library account, to which you have access via the OPAC.

Borrowed books can be reserved. Please inform yourself about the availability and, if possible, carry out your reservation in the library catalogue (OPAC). As soon as the book is available for you, you will be notified by e-mail. Prerequisite for the use of the e-mail notification is that we have a valid e-mail address registered in your library account. If you did not specify an e-mail address with your application in the library, we contact you by post.  In accordance with the Thüringer Verwaltungskostenordnung this causes a fee of EUR 0.55.

After the expiry of the loan period you will be reminded to charges according to the Thüringer Verwaltungskostenordnung:
1st reminder 1.50 €
2nd reminder + 2,50 €
3rd reminder + 4,00 €

With more than € 15,00 reminder fee, you cannot use any services in your account like ordering and reserving media and renewing the loan period. But up to € 25.00  reminder fee, you can conditionally lend further media und use some services by contacting the library staff. With more than € 25.00  reminder fee, your library account will automatically be locked.

Whoever loses or damages media of the library, has to inform the library staff and to pay compensation according to library regulations (§ 27). In consultation with the library the user has to provide a replacement copy or to make a cash substitute.
In case of loss of keys of the lockers “the house and key policy of the Bauhaus University Weimar” is applied. The loss also has to be indicated to the library staff as soon as possible.
