German for Studying in Germany/DSH

You would like to study at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar or some other German university and need to prepare for the German language entrance exams? If so, this is the right website for you.

In co-operation with the Bauhaus-Weiterbildungsakademie e.V., the Language Centre offers intensive German courses for foreign student applicants to help them prepare for studying in Germany. Our main target group are student applicants who wish to study at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar or the Hochschule für Musik 'Franz Liszt'. If enough places are available, though, applicants for other German universities and guests can also be accepted.

The proximity to both universities allows for an excellent preparation for studying at a German university , and it enables you to get in touch with professors and staff members of the degree programme of your choice. At the same time, you will get to know Weimar and student life at a German university and thus become familiar with the environment in which you will later live as a student.

We offer intensive courses on three different levels which eventually lead to the Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang ausländischer Studienbewerber (DSH), one of the two German language university entrance exams.

Our groups have no more than 15 students and are taught by experienced teachers of German as a Foreign Language. In addition, tutoring by German students is available for students who need extra help.

Courses and course levels

1. Grundstufe Deutsch (A 2 - B 1)
Level: Elementary/pre-intermediate
Target exam: Zertifikat DaF
Prerequisites: ca. 200 hours of German

2. Mittelstufe Deutsch (B 1 - B 2)
Level: Pre-intermediate/intermediate
Target exam: Mittelstufenprüfung (Entrance exam for DSH-course)
Prerequisites: ca. 600 hours of German

3. Oberstufe Deutsch (B 2 - C 1/C 2)
Level: upper-intermediate/advanced
Target exam: Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang ausländischer Studienbewerber (DSH)
Prerequisites: ca. 1,000 hours of German

Course dates: 1 October, 2012 - 15 February, 2013
Number of contact hours: ca. 350
Course fee: € 1,100

2. Summer Semester 2013

Course dates: 2 April - 12 July, 2013
Number of contact hours: ca. 330
Course fee: € 1,000

The course fees include a registration fee of € 300 and exam fees as well as tutoring by German students and an excursion
