The Media Culture bachelor's programme begins in the winter semester.
The prerequisite for admission is the allgemeine Hochschulreife (German higher education entrance qualification) or an equivalent secondary school degree. The number of students admitted to the degree programme in Media Culture is limited. A general selection process is carried out by the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. We recommend prospective students to undertake a preparatory internship.

Application submissions should be made online by the 15th July of each year.

All applicants will receive notification of successful or unsuccessful admission from the middle of August onwards. Successful applicants can then enrol with the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar (enrolment deadline: 30th September of each year).

Research Master in Media and Culture, Master of Arts

The prerequisite for admission to the master's programme is a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media Culture with an above-average overall grade, or an higher education first degree recognised as professionally relevant by the responsible Examination Board. Professionally relevant includes degree courses with cultural science or media science as the main subject, as well as other degree courses with relevance to media, as determined on a case-by-case basis. In other cases, the Examination Board may request remedial coursework to be undertaken by the applicant. No right to admission exists in this case.

A personal essay of approx. 3-4 pages describing the applicant’s motivation is to be included with the application for admission. This essay should include an overview of the scientific and professional/practical course of training up to now, such as media-related projects completed and/or internships, international experience during the first degree programme, and other student and/or scientific activities. Documentation of all activities must be included. Additionally, applicants should describe their personal perspectives for the future as relevant to the degree programme’s areas of focus.
