The Computer Graphics, Visualization and Man-Machine Communication group is part of the Faculty of Media at the Bauhaus-University Weimar since 1994. The group is Co-founder of the Faculty of Media.
Since its beginning, the group has focused on the integration of scientists, designers and artists into scientific research, acknowledging in the old tradition of the Bauhaus that Arts and Technology should constitute a unity. Only through the integration of scientists, engineers and designers, scientific progress makes sense and is able to gain widespread acknowledgement and acceptance. This is why in the group artists and engineers work side by side on developing new technologies.
In our group, designers and technology actors work together to the definition of a visual and interactive future. This makes the CoGVis/MMC group a unique experiment in the European scientific community.
Research themes of the group are
- real-time natural interactive 3D modeling paradigms
- real-time display of complex, anisotropic materials
- development of new controling paradigms for virtual characters
- real-time simulation and animation of complex three-dimensional elastic materials.
Our aim is to simulate the varied aspects of life, in a way that is understandable and usable to the layman.
