Rooms in student halls

The Studentenwerk Thüringen administers 10 student halls in Weimar with approximately 1100 rooms. The university does not have its own accommodation.
As a rule, up to 5 students share living quarters. Each student has his or her own room. Kitchen and bathroom are shared.

Rent in student halls varies depending on the quality, room size and length of stay. The overall rent ranges from about 91,00 EUR to 299,00 EUR per month. All additional expenses are covered in this monthly rent, including electricity, heating and water. The minimum rental period is six months. For shorter occupancies, the rent is calculated at a higher rate.

At the time of signing the lease contract the student must pay a 200,00 - 300,00 EUR deposit.

Exchange students must send the completed application forms back to Mrs. Evelyn Beyer from our International Office. We will pass the data on to the Studentenwerk Thüringen. Full-time students send their data directly to the Studentenwerk:

As a special service for the foreign students, mentors are available from the student council. These student mentors will be available to greet you upon arrival. If you let us know the exact time of your arrival in Weimar, you can be picked up at the railway station and shown to your new accommodation. (This is particularly important if you are arriving in the evening or at the weekend). They can also assist you to get the key for your room and with the signing of your rental contract.
Please do not forget to tell us your arrival date as well as your E-Mail address. The best days to arrive are from Monday to Friday.
