Language proficiency
A certain level of foreign language proficiency is a prerequisite for studying abroad, proof of which should be submitted with your application. As a rule, an appropriate command of English is required.
There are three steps you can take to learning or improving your language skills before you study abroad:
- First, take a basic course or refresher course, offered by the Language Centre, or one of the neighbouring universities in Jena or Erfurt.
- Second, build on your skills by attending an intensive language course at the Bauhaus Summer School.
- Third, participate in an intensive language course at the foreign university right before your semester begins. Many universities around the world offer such intensive language training (with course fees occasionally) to foreign students at the beginning of each academic year.
You may use the DAAD Language Certificate as proof of foreign language proficiency.
