Courses of Study

For the four fields of study, the professors organize the curriculum by making use of the interplay of different scientific disciplines and interdisciplinary project work, thereby creating the “Weimar Profile”, which is unique in Germany and Europe:

• Urban Design/Urban Planning
• Urban Sociology
• Project Development
• Spatial Planning

With its study programmes, European Urban Studies perceives itself both as a reaction to and a constitutive agent of the transnational merging of people(s) into a global civil society, thereby taking into consideration shifting global conditions and frames of action. At the same time, these study programmes reflect the consciousness of the striking richness of urban and architectural culture which can be found in various European regions. Since taking into account local perspectives, regional memories, traditions, diverse cultural imprints and environmental facts has become increasingly important in the age of globalization, due attention is payed to each of these issues.
