Studies and life in Weimar

One can attain an overview of the Bauhaus-University Weimar and the city easily even though they are not necessarily small. One can study here far away from the hectic atmosphere of the big city. Everything can be reached quickly in Weimar as it is a pedestrian-friendly city. The very good access by train should also be mentioned since the train station is part of the ICE network. Weimar-Berlin: approx. 3 h, Weimar-Munich: approx. 5 h, Weimar-Frankfurt/Main: ca. 2.5 h, Weimar-Hamburg: approx. 4 h.

A broad range of cultural events is offered in Weimar, which is strongly characterized by theaters, museums, art exhibitions, galleries and last but not least student activity. In Weimar, as proven by Goethe and Schiller, one can study not only in a particular discipline but also art, culture and life.

Living in Weimar

A broad range of rooms and apartments is available in Weimar. 10 student dormitories run by the student union provide a selection to choose from. Students can decide between different apartment forms, room sizes and furnishing. Most dormitories offer internet access within rooms. More detailed information is available on the homepage of the student union. The pin board of the homepage of the Bauhaus-University features advertisement on private rooms and apartment shares.

Scholarships

We would like to point out that the Institute of European Urbanism does not supply scholarships. We recommend international students to apply for scholarships with institutions in their countries of origin or to contact the international department of the "Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst" (DAAD).
