General Academic Advising
Our academic advisers answer questions that high school graduates and applicants often have, such as:
Further informations for international applicants
- How do I know which course of study is right for me?
- Which majors can I choose from?
- What kind of degrees does the Bauhaus-Universität offer and what will they qualify me for?
- What can I expect to learn and how is my academic programme structured?
- Which prerequisites must or should I fulfil?
- How and when can I apply?
- What conditions do I have to meet before I can enrol?
- Which professions or occupations will I be suited for after completing my studies?
The General Academic Advising office can assist all students and graduates with the following:

Our academic advisers provide counselling on a one-to-one basis. Students can speak with us during “general office hours” or arrange an appointment ahead of time. Our advising services are free of charge, anonymous and voluntary.
Our advisors give lectures about the topics listed above to high school groups on location (e.g., at high schools, employment agencies and professional information centres) or here at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar as part of an “Academic Walk-Through”. If you wish to attend a lecture, please contact us.
Every March we offer a “University Information Day” for all potential applicants. In October (autumn school vacation) high school seniors can also participate in a variety of university courses for one week.
Beginning freshmen can participate in a week-long academic orientation programme that takes place a week before each semester begins.
