Synthetic resin-bound and polymer-modified
building materials

The investigations at polymer-modified mortars (fresh and hardened mortars) essentially
correspond to those, which are specified under investigations of/at mortars and plasters.

Additions:

  • determination of the wear resistance according Böhme
  • durability investigations
    • resistance against most different chemicals
      (procedures according Franke/Fricke; Koch/Steinegger)
    • physical durability (freeze de-icing salt resistance, freeze-thaw cycles resistance)
  • determination of the content of polymers
Basic materials
  • grading curve
  • solid content at a temperature of 105 °C
  • thermogravimetry
  • infrared spectrophotometry
  • total content of halogens
  • pot life (processing time)
  • consistency
  • stiffness
  • bulk density
  • air content
  • size distribution of particles of synthetic resin emulsions

  • determination of the kind of binders by means of infrared spectrophotometry
  • shrinking
  • bulk density, flexural tensile, compressive and tensile strength
  • dynamic elastic modulus
  • thermal expansion
  • stability in calcium hydroxide solution
  • water vapor diffusion coefficient
  • water absorption
  • evaluation of the bond by means of
    • lattice cut test
    • adhesive strength test
  • evaluation of the durability/aging (storage with changing climate, UV resistance)
  • measurements of the thickness and the structure of layers by means of microscopy
  • investigations of the structure
